Visitor tips
Visit on weekdays to avoid crowds. Park outside the walls and walk in — these villages are made for slow strolls. In Besalú, don't miss the Romanesque bridge at sunset. Try to combine two or three nearby villages in one day.
How to get there
Most are best visited by car; the Baix Empordà villages are 30 min from Girona, Besalú is 45 min away.
Best time to visit
Spring and autumn: warm stone, soft light, open terraces.
